Britney Spears Almost Lost Video Slot To Labelmate

Britney Spears almost lost her video shoot to newcomer Samantha Jade after failing to show up on time last week. The Toxic singer was booked to shoot the video for new single Piece of Me at Los Angeles' Social club last Tuesday (27Nov07) at 8am - but chose to stay at home with her young sons instead.

Dancers and director Wayne Isham waited patiently without knowing where the star was, and Spears' bosses at Jive Records decided to teach the singer a lesson by giving her video shoot to her little-known labelmate. U.S. news show Extra reports Britney only showed up to shoot - 12 hours late - after hearing of the plans to let Jade shoot her video for break-out single Eyes On Me on Spears' unused set.

A source says, "Jive was really upset. They were already paying everyone overtime, and finally Britney showed up 12 hours late but only after they told her they were going to give the video shoot to another Jive artist, Samantha Jade. "They were going to recalibrate it (shoot) for Samantha, because it was too expensive to just scrap. "Britney finally showed up when she realised a new, younger, hotter girl would take her slot."
